The Restoration Project Fast Facts

The LandWell Company has been meeting with the community and interested stakeholders since 1999.  Open to the public, these quarterly meetings have served to update the community on the progress of the project.  Fast facts 09.18.08

 
Overview of the Restoration Program
The LandWell Company and Basic Remediation Company, with the oversight by the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP), are restoring and reclaiming 2,200 acres in Henderson, NV  Restoration Program 09.18.08
 
The Remediation Process
After nearly 18 years of research, testing and planning, remediation and clean-up of LandWell's 2,200-acre site is underway.  With Oversight by the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP), the project is  Restoration Remediation Process 09.18.08 127.50 Kb
 
The CAMU Liner
The new CAMU uses state-of-the-art environmental technology in its containment of impacted soils.  With around two million cubic yards of impacted soils expected to be deposited into the Corrective Action Management Unit.  CAMU Liner 09.18.08
 
Restoration Map

Once the CAMU (Corrective Action Management Unit) is constructed, crews will begin the clean-up process by excavating the contaiminated soils from the 2,200 acre site, found on approximately 400 acres and transporting them to the CAMU.

The Restoration Project Timeline
1941 - Basic Magnesium, Inc. (BMI) ws built by the Anaconda Copper Company for the Federal Government to produce magnesium - the lightest and stongest of metals - that was suddenly needed in large supply to build airplane bodies and other materials.  Project Timeline 09.18.08
