The site's soil will be analyzed before and after the remediation. Each home site will be retested again before any residential construction begins.
The LandWell Company has been meeting with the community and interested stakeholders since 1999. Open to the public, these meetings have served to update the community on the progress of the project.
The new development will offer single family to apartments, condos and patio homes – offering a broad range of housing options and price ranges for the community.
Approximately 400 acres of the 2,200 acres on the property require remediation and clean-up. There has never been any industrial activity on the remainder of the site, most of which has remained virgin desert. The evaporation ponds are now inactive. The soil underlying the ponds will be excavated and transported to a lined and monitored Corrective Action Management Unit(CAMU), off site. No excavated soils will be disposed of on-site.
The clean-up effort is voluntary and funded entirely by private dollars. No public funds have or will be used in the entire process.
